My Inner Trek

Yep I was excited when I saw this poster. Heck I was excited when I learned that there was going to be a new Trek movie. That really tickled my geek-bone, me being a sci-fi fan and all. Basically I can sum this movie up in 1 sentence: I came, I saw, I got disillusioned.

Here are my top 5 reasons of why the movie was disappointing (to me at least):

5. Where were the frickin' phasers? I mean come on! What set Star Trek apart was that they used frickin' phasers instead of the rest of the sci-fi universe which used laser blasters. Its supposed to be one continuous stream of gloom and doom coming out of the ship not (as the movie portrayed it) discrete beams of light which look more at home in Star Wars than in Star Trek.

4. Whats up with the shields? Did we suddenly have shield technology and then render it totally useless by not referring to them? In most of the battle scenes it starts off with "raise the shields" and then the enemy ships weapons proceed to blast the hell out of the ships. I mean granted the enemies from the future and has like "advanced weaponry" but then at least give the reference somewhere for crying out loud. Something along the lines of "our shields are ineffective against their weapons" would suffice but noooooo. Its "shields up" and then "ship obliterated"

3. What happened to the iconic photon torpedoes? In almost every Star Trek movie/episode the Federation Ships always always use those torpedoes to save their asses. I mean true the enterprise usually gets destroyed just before the final sequence but hey at least they torpedoed the heck out of the enemy right? Mission complete right? But what happens here? Nothing! No photon torpedoes. The ending sequence really looks like a scene from Star Wars. Laser blasts? Really? Come on!

2. Uhm were federation star ships really that weak? I mean for goodness sake, they didn't even put up a decent fight! And what the heck, the romulan "mining vessel" has like this mad "drill" that they use to drill into the planets surface right? How come they don't use it to like cut ships in half or something? I mean that would've made a really mad scene!

Alright since I already went through all the trouble of helping my mum set up her Streamyx on her computer I thought I might as well post it up. Hey who knows, it might help some hapless sap some day (or maybe even myself... LOL).

Anyway, step 1 involves you going into System Preferences. If you can't do that, please return your Mac and swear never to touch technology again. I'm serious.

Step 2: Go to Network

Step 3: Click on the + button

Step 4: Click on PPPoE, Choose Ethernet, and Enter the Service Name (can be anything)

Step 5: Enter your details

And thats it really. You can basically use these instructions for any PPPoE connection not necessarily just for Streamyx. Share and enjoy.

No, it has no bearing on my sexual preferences though if you're curious I am very much Heterosexual (that means I'm straight if you didn't get it). Anyhoo, today I had my university's "Compulsory International Students Orientation" which though entertaining was quite a waste of time. Me being the *ahem* ordered/forward-thinking person that I am had already done all that needed to be done, so my going there was just to be entertained. The real issues that I had wanted dealt with (namely clashing class schedules and classes not being offered) I was told would only be open for discussion on Monday which means I have to go back there on Monday just to settle it. (Geez, I thought I had left all this red tape back in Malaysia, but I guess its there where ever you go)

Lets see so what happened today, we had a very nice aboriginal dance by some of the aborigine's that were surprisingly enough from that general area and who's tribe had lived there for ages and eons, so we were told. Then we had 2 sessions of mind-bogglingly boring "lectures" which offered up as much information as a telephone directory when all you know is the person's first name. Then at last, we had "Crocodile Man". Now he wasn't really called Crocodile Man, but for the life of me I can't remember what he was called and that seemed like an apt name seeing as it is Oz after all. Lol.

There's no more fun in being right anymore. I always thought that truth in itself would be a delightful thing. That people sought after truth. That truth in its purest and most concrete form would banish all lies. Why then does it seem that now, the more truthful you become, the more the lies seem to shout louder?

As Christians we are told to "speak the truth in love" but then it seems that nowadays, truth is only chiefly concerned with hurting someone, or tearing them down, or only spoken when it affects you directly. Is that the way things are supposed to be? On the flipside though, why does it seem that people these days are so afraid to change? To accept constructive criticism?

I guess a lot of it has to do with my previous thought. They are so used to the fact that truth is used as a weapon that they assume that everything people say which is true about them is going to be used sooner or later to attack them. Sigh. I. Don't. Know. Anymore.

So where does that leave us then? How are we to reach a generation of people who have so twisted ideas about truth, honesty, about friendship? I always thought being a true friend meant that you genuinely cared for that person and would be willing to "rock the boat" so to speak, when you see your friend spiralling out of control, or you see him/her doing something which might be detrimental down the line.

On a side note, I am really excited about Windows 7. I have been playing around with the Beta quite a bit (in-fact I installed it on my sister's laptop and its now her primary OS and things seem ok. At this point in time, its even better than Vista. Though I still prefer Mac OS X (no danger in me uhm "backsliding" :P) but still I'm glad that PC users will finally have a good alternative or at least I hope nothing goes seriously wrong with it from now till its released.

My Departure

Well I am still waiting for my visa to be approved but as it is, I already have bought my ticket and by faith I will be leaving soon. Just to let it out there, I'll be leaving on the 2nd of February and my flight is at 1:15pm.

I will be sad to leave everything I know and love, but at the same time I am excited and looking forward to stepping onto the soil of another country (which I hear is absolutely fantastic by the way). Hopefully, I will update my blog more often then as well being around the people that I know that much, I don't really see a point in posting things that people already know LOL.

My Welcome, and Goodbye

Well 2008 has officially passed and as we usher in the new year, I would like to spend some time to reflect on the year that was 2008.

2008 was a good year for me. Well mostly, that is. It was a year of great changes and new experiences. It was a year where I learnt a lot of things. Not only academically but also life-lessons, what it means to be an adult, and not forgetting spiritual lessons as well.

2008 was the year that I finished my tertiary education. Where I graduated to move on to the next phase of my life. It was also the year when I learnt the intricacies of human relationships and I'm still quite perplexed with it but hey, life goes on. You live, and you learn. It was a year of ups and downs. Of really being able to see God's hand moving and guiding me along the path in which I should take. It was a year of rekindling old friendships, of forging new ones. Of learning how important family is and how at the end of it all, family is really all you have.

And so now that 2009 is here, and the horizons are open to me once more. I can't help but wonder what lies ahead of me. As I push ahead to whatever it is I'm supposed to do, I can only hope and pray that the Lord will continue to guide and provide me strength to go through the year 2009.

Here's to a great 2009! :)

Look at what I've discovered by accident. And its perfect for me too. Now I will be able to fuse both my love for programming/computers with my love for music. Its a new concept if you will. A new programming language called ChucK. Made by this guy called Ge Wang who, like me, was also fascinated and passionate about both Computer Science and Music.

According to the website at chuck.cs.princeton.edu, ChucK is a strongly-typed, strongly-timed, concurrent audio and multimedia programming language. It is compiled into virtual instructions, which is immediately run in the ChucK Virtual Machine.

It also features on-the-fly programming which means you can manipulate code and see the effects immediately without shutting down or restarting or recompiling. Very nice concept.

Here's a video demo of what might be. Its still under active development and many of the tools are in alpha or pre-alpha phase (Read: Not ready for human consumption... Yet...)

My Christmas

Somehow this year, I have no Christmas spirit. No holiday cheer nothing. Maybe its because I know that in a short time I will be leaving all that I know and love and moving to "seek my fortune" as my dad puts it, in "greener pastures". Yes I am somehow melancholic and have a feeling that whatever I do now won't mean a thing since I will be gone anyway, but somehow I still try. I've been dreaming a lot lately which is something I rarely do (or at least I don't usually remember my dreams) which is, to me at least, indicative of stress. I guess when its all said and done time will tell.

On a side note, here's an interesting twist to the Mac vs. PC argument. What if they were transformers hell bent on smashing each other up. LOL.

That said however, I do wish you all a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year from the bottom of my heart :D

Ok now this may sound amazing and so stupid that its beyond comprehension but I kind of miss having to baby-sit a windows machine. Being a Mac user these 2 years has really been smooth. So smooth that I hardly ever have problems with my computer. It is, in fact. Boring. Yeah sure having windows run inside a virtual machine can sometimes perk me up, but where's the fun in that? Where's the excitement? The risk of totally bricking your machine, the danger of losing *ALL* your precious work/movies/music/photos/etc? None, gone, zip, nada! Sigh... Anyone want to buy me one of those small netbooks for Christmas? :P

Okay so maybe I am running out of titles to use. But cut me some slack people it ain't easy to use one theme of title only you know lol. And yes I have cheated along the way so bluek! Anyhoo, I have some awesome news. Well awesome to me because this is something which has made me switch back and forth between Safari and Firefox for like a very long time. Well starting from today, I can safely choose one because *drum roll* the very useful addon called Inquisitor is now a Firefox addon too! Seriously you have to use it to understand why its so damn good but once you do, you'll wonder how the heck you were searching before this. Its that good. Anyway, head on over to Mozilla's Addons site to get it Inquisitor Addon for Firefox. You can thank me later :)

My Point Is...

...that life isn't as complicated as we make it out to be. Honestly most of the times when we accuse other people of being childish, immature, inconsiderate, unforgiving, aren't we guilty of the same crimes? Lets face, every one is the same. Everyone goes through the same problems and difficulties. We might like to think that our problems are new, that they are unique to us but they aren't. Everyone is the same. So in light of this what then can we do? Are we all destined to live our lives all emo and depressed all the time? Well no, part of the solution of anything is to understand the problem. I will list out 4 things that may help in identifying where problems lie and hopefully be able to give a kind of a general solution to them.

1. People are selfish

Yes they are. And yes you and I are. And no stop saying you're not selfish because you are period! Even Jesus Christ himself gave over briefly to His humanity while at the Mount of Olives and asked "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done." (NIV Luke 22:42) Obviously though Him being the Saviour of the world and all that He submitted his will to the Father's and the rest as they say is His-story. So there, people are selfish. Get over it and stop whining that people are selfish. You can never change that fact. What you can change though is your reaction to it and your perception on it. Knowing that people are ultimately thinking only of themselves affords you the nice tool of being able to adjust your expectations so that you don't always feel you are short changed.

2. Communication is Key

And no I'm not just talking about the occasional (or frequent) chats on MSN or sms' or telephone calls asking about the other person's day or talking about your favourite subject like Macs or football or whatever. But communication is very important in any kind of relationship. I once attended a wedding ceremony where the pastors sermon was this very topic. His main points were that we should communicate often, communicate clearly, and communicate encouragingly. The first point I'm sure is self explanatory, one should be in the habit of communication in the first place. The second point talks about how in communication sometimes we take for granted that we know someone or that they mean it in a certain way when in actual fact we don't or we miss the point (this is especially true for communications between guys and girls). So in lieu of this we must always seek to clarify. Its better I think to be labelled "long-winded" or even" unromantic" rather than having an issue over some misunderstood communications. The third point is especially relevant especially in our Asian culture. Face it, we as human beings always tend to look at the negatives in any given circumstance. We tend to harp on a persons shortcomings rather than give praise where praise is due or encourage one another when they are down. We tend to be extremely judgmental and cynical to everything around us. You know its true, I know its true, the person down the street selling the newspaper knows its true. So why aren't we doing anything about it? Remember the Bible says "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measures you use, it will be measured to you." (NIV Matthew 7:1-2)

3. Remember the Golden Rule

No its not some mystical and unknowable thing. Its not some super spiritual, super impossible thing to do. It just says *DO* to others as you would have them do to you. (NIV Luke 6:31) I know a lot of times people use this verse to justify their feeling unfair or short changed but if you read the chunk of Scripture, take the whole thing in context you would realise that it doesn't say anything about getting back what you expect from doing unto others. No, it goes on to say "If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' do that." (NIV Luke 6:32-33) and so on. So our job is to do. Not to expect good things done back to us because ultimately our reward is from heaven. So whenever we do something good, or treat someone nice we should not expect anything in return. I know its easier said than done but we should learn to move away from this Asian thinking of tit-for-tat or "You do something bad to me, I will avenge myself and do something bad to you" or "I do something good for you so in return you must do something good for me". We have to move away from thinking like that because ultimately people will disappoint us (refer to point number 1).

4. Running Away Never Helps

I know that a lot of us tend to think that if there is a problem the best thing to do is leave it alone and somehow things might get better. Well they don't. And things don't magically fix themselves. It takes time, effort and understanding on both sides to resolve issues. While I do agree that sometimes you do need to take a step back to look at the whole situation (as is when two party's are quarrelling or there has been a misunderstanding) ultimately there must be set in place an avenue whereby both party's can come back and take positive steps in reconciling or resolving those issues. Now I'm not taking the other extreme either or the "power through" method where you stick to each other even though you can't stand each other but a balance between the two must be struck. The thing to remember here is to keep lines of communication open (refer to point 2) and not force things. Its easy to get caught up in the moment and be all emotional and do stupid things but running away from the problem will not make it go away. It will come back to bite you in the ass someday.

So there you have it, life can be very simple. Its up to us whether we want to react in a way which creates all these difficult and complicated scenario's. At the end of the day, complications only lead to more complications. What does this all mean? It means we are human and we can feel like shit sometimes and God knows that. It all depends on whether we want to wallow in self-pity, feeling all pitiful and depressed and emo about it blaming other people for being "immature" or somehow ask God for the strength to carry on. To do things even when things seem impossible.

Seriously, its nothing but a pain-in-the-behind and the only reason I've stuck to it thus far is because all my friends seem to be on it. Well guess what, enough is enough! No more, I shall not tolerate a subpar Instant Messaging service anymore. And I suggest everyone follow me too. Yes ladies and gentlemen Apple has once again raised the bar of both design and technology to bring us the latest round of scrumptious looking machines that not only look good, but perform really well. It really seems like Apple has thrown in the towel when it comes to product information leaks and that sort of put a damper on things for me, because all those supposed rumours and pictures of the "new machine" that were plastered all over geeksville proved to be true. But that still doesn't detract from the wonderful machines that are available in the US right now (for us Malaysians, expect to wait like 2~4 weeks... Or more). So, you may ask where's the beef? Well I'm getting to it.

Firstly, we have the new MacBook Pro's

2 new configurations are available. With all the new-fangledness that befits an Apple keynote.

- $1999 will get you a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2GB's of RAM, 250GB Hard disk, a 15.4" Glossy Display and *TWO* Graphics cards (yes you heard me right, T-frickin'-W-O!). Anyhoo, if you don't already know - SHAME ON YOU - or well maybe I'm just a bigger geek/nerd than I thought I was and most of the world doesn't wait hand and foot for every word that falls out of "The Steve's" mouth (no, not our stevemaesto lololol but the big-kahuna-at-Apple Steve). So, yeah there's this big event coming up and Apple's all hype about it and it seems bigger and greater things are to come (when are they ever not?).

So whats it all about? Well, it seems from what rumours I've been able to gather (i.e from macrumors, tuaw, and all the other usual sites us macgeeks frequent) we might be looking at a refresh of the iPod line-up, iTunes8, new iPhone firmware with alleged "hidden features" and maybe, just maybe... New machines. Well here's to hoping. As at time of writing I can't access Apple's site.

After what seems like an eternity. Finally, it looks like HTC is going to be releasing the HTC Dream aka the gPhone! While I'm sure that they wanted to keep it under wraps, its pretty hard especially with so many people curious about it and stringent controls which it has to pass in the US, like FCC and all that. That invariably, leads to "leaks". This is probably the most damning and probably would be what it would look like.

I'm back with another handy tip on how to speed up Safari. Now this one really works. I've tried it and I'm noticing it immediately. This tip comes courtesy of Amdahl on the macrumors forum. (His post on it here). Its a little more involved this one and requires you to mess around with the terminal a bit more. But its worth it I assure you. Just make sure you follow the instructions line by line and cut&paste the instructions if you're not sure of it.

Manually defragging your Safari cache is often a big speed win on 10.5. In Terminal, with Safari closed, run the following lines. If you have other user accounts, log out and back in as each account and repeat:

PLEASE NOTE :::: THE SINGLE QUOTES on THECACHE line are from the quote on the tilde(~) key to the left of the number 1 key. You must use the correct quote! The double quotes around Cache.db are the usual double quote from pressing Shift with the key to the immediate left of your Return/Enter key. Or, just cut & paste!

cd ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari
cp -Rp Cache.db Cache.db2
mv Cache.db2 Cache.db
cd /private/var/folders
THECACHE=`find . -iname "Cache.db" |grep Safari|head -n1`
cp -Rp $THECACHE ~/Cache.db2
mv ~/Cache.db2 $THECACHE

You'll get some permission denied from find. Don't mind them.
ONLY FOR 10.5! Safari on 10.4 has a different cache structure.

For those of you who use both Safari3 and Firefox3 regularly and are torn between the two (like yours truly is) I'm sure you notice a difference in the "speed" of the two browsers when displaying pages. I've done some research on the net and it seems to stem from the fact that Safari has a delay time of 1000ms or 1sec before it actually renders the page to display while Firefox has a 250ms delay time. What this means is that Safari actually loads whole pages faster but is perceived to be slower because it doesn't show anything for 1sec after the user clicks a link. So, if you want to have a perception of speed while actually increasing your load times you can try this.

1. Quit Safari
2. Open Up Terminal
3. Type in "defaults write com.apple.Safari WebKitInitialTimedLayoutDelay 0.25" without the quotes and then Enter to save
4. Restart Safari and enjoy

And again, this will increase load times for whole webpages slightly but you will receive near instantaneous changes to your clicks. Test it out for yourself and see what suits you better. By the way, if you want to reset if back to default type in the command again but substitute 0.25 for 1 which is the default.

So far I'm quite happy with the perception of speed that this little "hack" has brought. So its back to Safari as my default browser for awhile.

Nah not really seeing as how they're doing so well in almost all categories of the PC sector, from desktops to server chips Intel seems to be leading the way. However early this year, when Intel launched its Atom processor I got very excited because, here was a core based processor which drew very little power and could be put into those really tiny UMPC computer's which seem to be all the rage right now. Well guess what, VIA isn't going down quietly. After being relatively unknown in the general consumer sense beside AMD and Intel, VIA have come up with an Atom smasher so to speak. Welcome the "Nano" :)

I am officially unemployed right now :P So whats next? Well I would like to continue studying barring which I will be working first. Ok, so my grades weren't really that great but hey, the journey is more important than the destination right? I can't help but feel a little lost and uncertain about what the future holds, but I'm glad I have a God whom I can fully put my trust and hope in for the future. So am I anxious? Yes. Am I nervous? Yes. But am I in good hands? Definitely yes. Lets just see how life plays out in the near future. I can truly say that I've grown a lot in these past few years in the various aspects of my life. The recent visit of my cousin from Australia and the subsequent "family reunion" between the cousins on my father's side has reawakened who I really am. I realize now that I've been living in a shell, afraid to venture out for fear of failure. But now, meh... Whatever. Life is to be lived, and lived to the full :)

Ok, well maybe not evil twin as in evil twin but sometimes when you're all alone like in the car driving alone with nothing but your own thoughts running through your head don't you get like weird ideas on how to get back on people who annoy you or just piss you off? Maybe its just me, but I don't think so. Anyway, today as I was driving back from university I had a very wacky idea. (Wacky being a relative term because I realise that what is funny to me might not be to you) So anyway, it was already like 10pm as I was travelling along the MRR2 and I was in the "fast lane". Mind you traffic was quite heavy and so I couldn't really travel that fast and there along came this big-ish SUV which highlighted me asking me to move out of the way. Now at that particular moment, I was taking a bend and the lane next to me was already full of cars so I really couldn't do anything nor get out of the way, but this guy still kept high-beaming me. Then it struck me, I probably should install flood lights at the back of my car along with an LCD screen at my rear mirror and flash like "It isn't nice to high-beam people" in 3 different languages just so they get the message before flooding them with my flood lights :P Ooooh that would be fun :)

Well lets see. To all those keeping score these past few days/months/years have been phenomenal for me. Lots of changes, lots of new stuff to cope with, new challenges, new experiences (not all good, mind you), new stresses, new people, new everything. So what's up you say? Well I don't know. Its just that as my time in university draws to a close, I can't help but to be circumspect and reflect on these past 3 years that I've spent in Nottingham. It has been a good solid 3 years I have to say, and the friendships and people I've met and got to know has really and truly made my life more interesting. Its just really sad that it is going to end really soon. Seems like just yesterday I stepped into the Semenyih Campus with hopes and dreams high only to face reality and my own short-comings.

So what has happened in this past 3 years? Lets see. I met some really nice people over at Nottingham whom I am proud to call my friends. I became a Mac user for real. (Yes yes before this I was just a Mac-User wannabe but now muahahaha I've loosed the shackles of Windows!) I moved church to Canaan Church (well ok, maybe not moved but sort of like officiated my relationship with them LOL). I have had amazing times with my best buds The Kash, The Chay, and The Maestro, The Noob, and all the other people over at Glo.

If you haven't noticed yet, yes I am in a very melancholic mood (translated: emo) so yeah. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what God has in store for me.

This just in. It seems in addition to all the Mac goodness that Apple has bestowed upon us with 10.5.2 including better gaming performance as seen in my previous post they have "resolved certain kernel panics" caused by faulty airport drivers. Yippee!!! I really hope this resolves this once and for all.

Has just gotten better it would seem with the release of Mac OS X 10.5.2. Yes thats right folks, Apple has just released their latest update to Leopard and so far, things seem really really good. And as icing on the cake it seems it gives a nice performance boost to my current favourite game of all... World of Warcraft! Don't believe me? Well, a kind soul has done some "tests" (I would too only 10.5.2 is currently downloading so I'll have to wait) and this is his results...

Here's some weird things about me.

1. I am a bit OCD so I like it when all my stuff is in the exact same position and such. I might not be so OCD that I actually know where goes what exactly but I can sense when things are out of place and I get quite annoyed.

2. I am generally a clean and tidy person. Just that I am sloppy when I'm at home. Don't ask me the reason why. I'm sure even my parents would like to know, but I guess I do it because I can.

3. Ever since using a Mac, I have this obsession of keeping as many apps running as I can. I know this is hard for you windows users out there to understand, because you would try to keep running apps to a minimum. But its like, everytime I see less than 5 apps running, I feel I'm under-utilising my computer ; )

4. I actually like eating vegetables. But I don't like them raw.

5. I don't have a sweet tooth. Something which my sister finds perplexing since she does have one.

Anyway, back to studying for now ~_~

My Holy [Sugar Honey Ice Tea]!! Moment

Sigh, Mac OS X Leopard is beginning to remind me of my "old" windows XP days. I've just had to rebuild my entire iTunes library because of a kernel panic (to all you windows users out there, a kernel panic on a Mac is kinda like your good ol' Blue Screen of Death except that ours is a nice looking grey screen politely telling us to restart our computers :) ). Anyways, its not much of a big deal because rebuilding the library took like 10 seconds, but I lost all of my metadata. So all my play counts, custom playlists and ratings etc. are gone. Oh well, at least the songs are still there. To be fair, we're still in the early stages of Leopard and I have full confidence in Apple to start resolving major issues and though its not as solid as Tiger was, I'm sure we'll reach there real soon.

On a side note, it seems that the Kernel Panics that we are experiencing are due to a somewhat faulty Airport driver and seems to happen when the wifi network activity is high (i.e When downloading/uploading large files, or running p2p programs). So I'm hoping that 1. Apple acknowledges a bug with their airport drivers and 2. That they resolve it by giving us updated drivers in the near future. 10.5.2 anyone? : )

My Dilemma: Software vs. Hardware

Ok so this whole iPhone sim unlock thingy is really getting serious now that Apple is actively preventing people from unlocking their iPhones. The current iPhones ship with Firmware 1.1.2 and also come with a new bootloader which makes software unlocking almost impossible right now. The best solution so far is using hardware such as Stealth Sim but I would have to modify my sim card (as in cut out a portion of it). The downside is, that it is costly. Something like $100+ USD!! Ok, so the situation is like this...

Software Unlock

Pros:

Free
Relatively easy to do

Cons:

Can't unlock FW1.1.2 Out of the box
Not upgrade friendly (as in I have to wait for a new unlock everytime a new firmware is released)
There are paid solutions which cost about the same as the hardware ones but you have to give your IMEI number to a third party

Hardware Unlock

Pros:

Quite easy to do also
Most of it is plug and play
Upgrade friendly

Cons:

Expensive!
Have to modify sim which might get me in trouble with my telco

Anyway, to get an idea of how easy it is to actually use something like Stealth Sim here's a short clip on it...

So yeah, Christmas is over. You might be wondering why I bothered to make two posts instead of just one but well see the previous one described my Christmas. While this one will describe another event.

So anyway, one day Lam had to go to register for his course at UCSI and pay his course fees and do his course registration and so on. So he asked me whether I would like to tag along. I said sure why not and this post is about the resulting things that happened. Oh by the way, I met a new friend this Christmas. Her name is Michelle and she's from America and she's currently volunteering to teach in the Philippines. She is one cool person.

Well, I didn't really keep tabs on what was happening this Christmas season plus I'm lazy to blog about every single thing that happened so I'll just lump it into one post. Anyway, Christmas was good. I really had a lot of fun. Got to go to Malacca on an eating spree (honestly, we just ate and ate and ate and suffered the consequences the day after but that's another story) and then there was carolling which was really gruesomely tiring and then there was all the hanging out and the Christmas shopping and the preparations before Christmas (I know this is not exactly in chronological order but who cares, its MY blog so there!). Anyway, I'm still waiting on our two official paparazzi for the photos (meaning The Kash and The Chay) so till then I can't really post any pictures up for you, my dear readers, to see. But then again most of you were already on the trip so...

To all you Mac lovers out there who hate Power Point and have sworn to stick to Keynote and are having problems trying to put video's into your presentation today's post is for you. Seems all you have to do is to go to keynote preferences under the "slideshow" tab and select "Allow expose, dashboard and others to use the screen" and voila your video will play.

Well, of course Christmas time is a time filled with joy and laughter. Where we remember the birth of our dear saviour Jesus Christ. Where even the shopping malls are decked to the brim with Christmas deco, and are blaring Christmas carol's. Christmas is the one time where Christians can actually act all "Christian-y" and no one would care. Its the only time where even public places proclaim the Good News. But behind it all, I think the reason why people have become so deaf to it is because of all the commercialisation that's been going on. Seriously, the devil is one smart person. If you stop to think about it, Christmas is the one time where we can talk and sing openly about Jesus Christ and no one seems to mind. But what does "he" do? Well "he" just goes along and takes that from us. "He" says, I will commercialise and rob Christmas of its true meaning. I will put the focus on presents and gifts and the spirit of getting instead of the spirit of giving which is what God the Father did for us that fateful day. Now, I had not intended this post to be a rant about Christmas, but it ended up that way. Oh well, so now I ask you. What's your reason for the season?

Ok, for those of you who have updated to Leopard and have noticed that suddenly you are not able to send files to your Mac using bluetooth I may have a solution for you.

Go to System Prefs -> Sharing and make sure you check "Bluetooth Sharing".

It should work then. Oh works for Mac-to-Mac bluetooth transfers also I think. Can't really try it out now because I recently upgraded my N73's firmware and Nokia broke something D:

I think the title of my blog is really misleading. I mean, for the past like year or so I haven't really touched a PC and this is supposed to be a blog of my "Frustration/Disgruntleness". When I started I had these like really grand idea's of doing epic posts with PC vs. Mac or something to that effect but now, I have become complacent because Mac's are really that stable. I have had no really big problems on my Mac thus far and computing for me has been smooth sailing. So I ask myself, can I really qualify my blog title or should I change it. What say you, my faithful(?) readers? :P
